Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985, in New York City New York) is well-known for her acting abilities across genres such as the period dramas through thrillers to action films. Johansson was the daughter of an architect and producer was brought up as a child in New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. She began to develop an interest in acting at a young age auditioning for commercials by the age of seven. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. At age eight she appeared alongside Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry when she was nine. At that age, she made her first film appearance with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson subsequently appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows siblings who are orphaned and run away.
